The Nap Reset
It’s a Game Change
A nap reset is a game changer for your mindset and your mental health! Your baby will most likely go through stages where, despite all your efforts, they just aren’t falling asleep. This can be so frustrating, time consuming and utterly exhausting.
Sometimes there are reasons for this including wake windows that are too short, or they’re uncomfortable or overstimulated.
But regardless of the reason in the moment, if you’re spending more than 10 - 20 minutes actively trying to settle your baby to sleep …
STOP.
TAKE A DEEP BREATH.
CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT AND TAKE A BREAK.
If you can, go outside in the fresh air with your baby and play and have a snack. If you can’t go outside, go into a different room within your house. After 15 - 20 minutes in a different environment, try again to support them to sleep. They (and you!) will be so much happier for the reset.
If this continues for days/weeks at a time, experiment with their wake windows. It could be that they need a longer awake time, or maybe they’re ready to drop a nap or need a later bedtime.
